This kitchen work island started out as a 1940’s era hand-made work bench by the father of the person I purchased it from. I tried not to change too much in terms of the original paint put on it over the years. It’s super heavy duty and is solid as a rock. (very heavy!) I took some liberties with the work bench so I could repurpose it into a really cool, one of a kind, kitchen Work Island. The overall sizes are as follows:
Height: 43” to the top of the work area, 67” to the top of the back shelf
Bottom storage area: 13” Height x 18” deep x 48” wide (stainless steel lined!)
Some special additions/touches I included are an 8 place wine rack below the drawer area. I added various trim pieces and decorative feet on all 4 corners. Lastly, I made a butcher block work surface which features the original pull chain light in the middle just below the top utility shelf covered in sheet metal. One really cool/special thing about this old vintage workbench, the 54 year old woman I purchased it from mentioned that the baby bottles attached to the upper shelf were her baby food bottles recycled by her father to hold miscellaneous hardware, etc.! If this was listed on Etsy, it would be priced at $1,500, but it’s not listed on Etsy and I’m asking only $795!
