Transmission: 5spd manual
I have for sale my 1998 Honda Prelude 5spd manual in Flamenco Black. This car was my pride and joy since I purchased it in May of 2010 in Austin, TX with 120,000 miles on it. The car currently has 184,257 miles on it.
The car is mostly stock, except for the JDM Honda intake and K&N air filter to give it some grunt. Viper 5706V 2-way alarm with keyless entry and remote start (was $700 and has 1-mile range), and tinted windows at 35% which is the legal limit were installed immediately upon purchase. I acquired a set of Prelude SH rims and painted them gunmetal. They do have the normal chipping for their age.
The aftermarket Pioneer bluetooth stereo matches the interior orange dash color and Polk DB6501 6.5" component speakers up front and Polk DB691 6"x9" speakers in the rear. These are all powered by a 4-channel Rockford Fosgate PBR 300X4 amplifier pushing out 300 watts RMS total or 75 watts RMS per speaker. The stereo is loud when you need it to be with the windows down and the sunroof open, and has bass and sounds great when you want it. I also installed sound deadening throughout the interior cabin of the car.
The car is the base model that came equipped with many options at the time. These options include black leather interior, rear spoiler, and moonroof. Everything on the car works as it should.
This car is about 20 years old and does have its usual dents, scratches, scrapes, paint fade, etc. for its age. The paint still shines well. I used to buff the car every 3 years. A professional buffing would help to eliminate some of the minor scratches. The car does have a dent in the rear passenger quarter panel but is only noticeable in the right lighting conditions. There is also a scrape on the lower driver's door. Ths is also only noticeable in the right lighting conditions. There is no major rust as this car spent half it's life in Austin and I washed the car once per week in the winter.
The car runs and drives flawlessly. The motor pulls very strong and the topend (Head) was rebuilt a few years ago. Vtech kicks in hard at 5,200 RPM. This motor is very perky. The clutch was just recently replaced with only about 1,000 miles on it since install. All of the rubber bushings and struts were replaced 3 years ago. The timing belt, water pump, and full cooling system (radiator) were replaced about 4 years ago. Please see the list below for every logged repair.
I grew up working on cars and worked in an automotive repair shop for almost 4 years. Many of the repairs were performed by me except for the major repairs completed within the past 2 years. I have receipts for almost ever repair since I've owned the car. This is over $12,000 over the past 10 years and many of these receipts are just for parts. I'm not including the time and labor I spent installing the replacement parts.
I have an MS Excel File of all of the cataloged receipts and repairs. I can send this upon request.
The car does have a slight pull to the left, which an alignment will solve, the emergency hazard switch works, but the mounting pin broke and the switch isn't seated correctly in the dash, and the car does drip some oil. This is a 20-year-old Honda and they are known for dripping oil. The oil drip isn't horrible but I usually add 1/2 quart of oil every 1,500 miles or so.
I am selling the car because I moved into the city for work and no longer require the use of a car. I would keep the car but have no means to store it and the parents would like to have their garage space back. The car is currently in Oswego, IL and I will make the drive to come show the car with a scheduled appointment.
Thank you for looking. $3,000 obo
